This book is essentially a a collection of articles from Fine Woodworking magazine. The editors' choices of articles, for the most part, are excellent. Anyone who wants a complete, one-stop overview of woodworking basics will enjoy this volume. Topics covered include setting up a shop, materials, tools, techniques, projects, and finishes.
This is a comprehensive guide for those new to woodworking but for those without any woodworking experience. A significant amount of jargon is used and without explanation. Chapters inlcude shop set-up and maintenance, the basic tools and materials needed in every shop, fundamental techniques for building furniture, and information on finishes and finishing methods. An added bonus is the inclusion of a number of projects. Plenty of illustrations, color photographs and helpful diagrams throughou thoroughly enjoyable and informative.
