Tage Frid Teaches Woodworking 1&2: A Step-By-Step Guidebook to Essential Woodworking Technique
by Tage Frid, Peter Chapman (Editor)

An excellent step-by-step guidebook to woodworking technique for the earnest woodworker. The first part covers joinery: how to make a wide variety of joints with hand tools and machines, and how to select the right joinery for each application. The second part provides detailed instruction on bending, shaping, carving, turning, veneering, and finishing wood. Well illustrated with photos and drawings. — Book News, Inc.

Tage Frid provides a very thorough presentation of basic woodworking skills with advanced techinques (many methods, differing techniques and varied tools) and Great step-by-step details. Tage's only weakness is the used of black and white photos that are, at times, difficult to gleen detail from. That said, if you follow along in the text it will be clear what is being shown. This isn't a coffee table book, it's an instruction manual for people interested in the finer points of woodworking. This is an excellent book for beginners.

Reader's comments:

"Best general woodworking text I've ever seen, Master Tage Frid has put in these books all anyone would ever need to become a very competent woodworker."

"Although I had been doing a lot of work before, once I got his books my level of confidence went to the stratosphere. I now tackle very complex projects using mostly hand tools without the slightest problem."

"A must have book that describes in great step-by-step details how to cut many joints - Some that I bet many people never even heard of. This book is worth buying if only for the hand cut dovetail instructions."
