Ask a Woodworker

I'm making a project from timber that I got from a neighbor (storm damage). The wood looks good but has some bugs in it. Is there any way of getting the bugs out of the wood without using harsh chemicals?

This isn't really in our area of expertise. That said, you can hire a pesticide person to gas the wood with methyl bromide or check your area to see where the folks who cut down timber for a living take their wood to be kiln-dried. A finishing temperature of 160 degrees for a few hours should get rid of the critters.
