Compound Miter Saw Jig
Cutting crown and cove molding is not an easy task...the angles, holding the stock up against the fence, the math(???). And that's with a clear head, well equipped shop and compound miter saw! What if you aren't so well equipped? Well, the folks at Rockler have the jig for you.

Their crown molding compound miter jig holds molding at the angles it will rest at once installed (see photo above left). So, setup is simple. You just place the molding upside down in the jig, slide the adjustable cleat until the modling fits snugly against the no-skid strip at the top of the jig, and tighten the knobs to lock the piece in place.
Set the miter saw according to reference guide shown on the jig (see photo above right). Position the jig on the correct side of the blade, keeping it at a minimum of 1/2" from the blade. Push the back of the jig against the saw fence, and hold the jig and molding in place while you make a 45° miter cut (see photo at right).
Inside miters, outside miters they are all easy with this handy gadget.
The compound miter jig works on molding 2" to 4 1/2" wide and fits miter saws 10" and larger.
