LOW Technology Stuff
No doubt 2005 will be another great year for tools featuring the lastest in gimmicks, gadget technology, and longer battery life. With that in mind, we thought it might be refreshing to take a look a couple of decidely low tech items that have the potential to make life easier for the woodworker. We do this not for the technologically challenged, but for those who can appreciate a good idea without a lot of fuss.
SLIPIT®
This is a lubricant specially formulated for use where silicone is not desired. For woodworking that's just about everyplace on any combination of wood, metal & plastic. We use it to keep saws humming. The blades cut better with less friction and the stock slides across the the table with ease. And it's a rust inhibitor! You can even unstick drawers, windows, doors, drawers and any other wood-on-wood application or use it as a releasing agent on that next plaster mold. The stuff does not gum up because it collects little or no dust. Work surfaces and skin are safe and its very easy to apply with a brush.
It comes as a gel, a nonflammable aerosol, and liquid. Did we mention that it is orderless and non-toxic!

Now, it's not just a pretty straight edge any more it does arcs (up to 47" in diamater), checks for uniform spacing between objects, scribes and draws circles, and marks parallel lines. Available in metric and inches. Best of all it doesn't take batteries.
