This tool station pulls double duty by serving as a planer stand as well as a miter saw station – complete with extension wings and fences.
Making use of a miter saw or planer is often a compromise. For a long time I simply set one or the other on the top of my workbench setting up makeshift supports when I needed to work with long stock. But the dual tool station shown above allows me to make better use of both tools without tying up my bench. To provide extra support when working with long stock on either the miter saw or planer there’s an extension wing and auxiliary fence (for the miter saw) on each side of the station. To save space the extension wings fold down to the sides and the fences store inside. Besides the fences there’s also a shelf for storing the tool you’re not using as you can see above. The shelf slides out to make it easy to get the tool in and out. Finally a deep drawer on full-extension slides holds manuals accessories and anything else you might need to use with your miter saw or planer.
