Product Description
Amazakoue (Guibourtia ehie) features striking yellowish to reddish-brown tones accented by darker brown, gray, or black striping. Its pale yellow sapwood contrasts clearly with the heartwood. The grain is typically straight to slightly interlocked with a medium to coarse texture and a moderate luster. This wood is generally easy to work, though its silica content can lead to dulling of cutters. Interlocked grain or figure may cause tearout when planing or machining. Amazakoue turns, glues, and finishes beautifully, making it a favorite for furniture, veneers, cabinetry, turning, and musical instruments.
