Amazakoue, also known as Guibourtia ehie, is a visually dynamic hardwood with yellowish to reddish-brown coloration streaked by dark brown, gray, or black lines. It has moderately wide sapwood in a pale yellow tone, sharply distinct from the heartwood. Its grain varies from straight to slightly interlocked and exhibits a coarse texture with modest luster. While generally user-friendly, its silica content can wear down cutters, and irregular grain may pose machining challenges. Still, it performs well with glue, finishes attractively, and is commonly used in fine furniture, musical instruments, veneers, and turned works.
