With its dramatic coloration, Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa) can appear in shades of yellow, orange, red, and brown, often interwoven with black or purple streaks. As the wood is exposed, the color matures into a deep orange‑red. Cocobolo is a hard, heavy species with an irregular grain and a medium‑fine texture, and its natural oil content provides excellent resistance to decay.
