Shedua (Guibourtia ehie) ranges in color from yellow-brown to reddish-brown, often streaked with darker brown, gray, or black lines. The sapwood is pale-yellow and sharply defined from the heartwood.Grain is straight to slightly interlocked, medium to coarse texture with a moderate luster. Overall, a fairly easy wood to work, contains silica and can therefore dull cutters prematurely. Also, if the grain is interlocked, or if there is other figure present in the wood, planing and other machining operations may be troublesome and cause tearout. Turns, glues and finishes well. Common uses include veneers, furniture, cabinetry, turned objects, and musical instruments.
